So after cleaning the basement and finding a ton of crafting stuff of my daughters... I decided I wanted to make something with her.
We did a ton of cleaning and I was pretty beat. I remember seeing a recipe for Apple chips.
I switched up the recipe a llittle bit. I used regular red apples we had in the fruit bowl, some dark brown sugar, and ground cinnamon.
I preheated the oven to 200° and then peeled the apples. I found a big bowl and Lauren got to pick out her spatula and spoon to mix with.
I threw the apples in her big bowl sprinkled the sugar and cinnamon and let have her way..
Of course she ate a quarter of the apples before we even got to put them in the oven.
Apparently they're gonna be a hit, because my husband came in and started eating them! He also told me I'm going to have to make these every time we buy apples now too!
I cooked them for an hour and then flipped them over and cooked them for another hour.
I found it easier to slice them while standing the apple up (basically from right to left) instead of putting the apple on its side and starting from bottom to top. So mine didn't have the petty stars. .
When they came out the thicker ones where a little chewy still. Next time I think ill use a dehydrator or try 250°. But kids loves them and so did the hubby. And an added side effect, my house smells wonderful!
